Logan is a city located in Hocking County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 6,704. It is the county seat of Hocking County. Logan is located in southeast Ohio, on the Hocking River southeast of Columbus.

As of the census of 2000, there are 6,704 people, 2,790 households, and 1,768 families residing in the city. The population density is 840.4/km2 (2,175.2/mi2). There are 2,948 housing units at an average density of 369.6/km2 (956.5/mi2). The racial makeup of the city is 97.87% White, 0.57% African American, 0.39% Native American, 0.06% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.01% from other races, and 1.10% from two or more races. 0.46% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 2,790 households out of which 30.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.2% are married couples living together, 13.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 36.6% are non-families. 32.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.33 and the average family size is 2.94.
